Showtime’s ShoBox series returned to the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA for another round of fantastic fights.
Antonio DeMarco UD10 Nick Casal - It was a bloody action packed battle between two fighters who refused to loose but in the end Mexico’s Antonio DeMarco won a 10 round unanimous decision over highly touted Nick Casal. Credit should be given to DeMarco who despite tasting Casal’s power never gave an inch to the Niagara Falls, NY native. Casal’s nose was a bloody mess by the seventh round but he showed poise and courage in staging a late rally the had the crowd on their feet. In the end the judges saw it fit to reward the contest to DeMarco.
The judges scorecards read: 96-94 and 97-93 (x2)
With the win DeMarco improves to 16-1-1, 12 KOs, Casal falls to 16-2-1, 12 KOs.
Alfredo Angulo TKO2 Emmanuel Gonzalez – Few have seen Angulo fight but the Mexican is the real deal. Angulo never stopped bringing the pain to Gonzalez. Gonzalez was floored by an Angulo right and then finished off when Angulo pummeled him to the floor with a wicked combination in the second. Perhaps it is no surprise that some notable A-List fighters have employed Angulo as a sparring partner, most notably Roy Jones Jr., Ricky Hatton, and Antonio Margarito.
With the win Angulo makes a huge statement and improves his record to 10-0, 7 KOs; Gonzalez falls to 9-1, 4 KOs.
